davehux Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Picked up a 93/94 MIJ Squier Precision of The Bay this week. When I changed the strings, I found the nut was snapped in 2 under the A string. I've got a cheapo graphite nut on the way, but it's 6mm thick and the slot is 3mm. Obviously I can file it down, but I wondered if anyone knew of someplace that sells bone or brass 40mm wide/3mm thick nuts Cheers Quote
gjones Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 (edited) Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you got a Silver Squier to me, as they all have 40mm nuts. I saw acouple on ebay last week. Was it the red one or the white one you bought? Sorry I can't help you with your nut issue. Edited February 28, 2014 by gjones Quote
Paul S Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 You could try glueing it together if the halves make a good join? I had a lump fall off a Fender Jaguar nut and my regular tech guy just glued it back with some sort of resin stuff. Wasn't a problem subsequently. Quote
gjones Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 (edited) Actually this nut 2nd from bottom looks like it should fit http://www.guitar-parts-and-spares-uk.co.uk/contents/en-uk/p585.html Edited February 28, 2014 by gjones Quote
davehux Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 They look like the business. I'll measure the string spacing tonight, as I'm not sure if i need the J or the P version My Squier is a black one. No Silver Series logo, but a Q-6 digit serial. When I took the neck off, it had SQ II PB/R on a label in the neck pocket and stamped on the heel Quote
