artisan
So my SG arrived this morning but i'm at work so can't have a play until this evening. I must get rid of the aweful roundwounds & put some flats on it asap,i can't decide what to get though, preferably some without silk windings as i have heard these can run over both the nut or bridge saddles. Any idea's ? Cheers
kristo
I've just sold my SG bass but used flats on it. For no silk at all at the bridge end, I found GHS Precision Flats to be very good on the SG. My strings of choice were TI Flats which sounded ace on mine, but had the silks on the bridge as you mention. I bought a Webbteca Mod Bar which stops this by increasing the distance from ball-end to bridge. It improved the sound quite a like, and I'd recommend them on SG basses. artisan
Well i've had a good play this evening & really like this little bass very much indeed,it sounds pretty nice with the stock rounds too so i might keep 'em on for a while. dannybuoy
Easy enough to trim the silks with a stanley blade!
