Measurements:

Lower Bout - 25" (65cm)
Upper Bout - 19 1/2" (49.5cm)
Length of Back - 43" (109cm)
Stop Length - 39 1/2" (100.5cm)

The instrument is small and very easy to play, especially in the high register. Built for, so ideally suited to a soloist.

It has had one small cosmetic repair carried out by Koplin Violins of York. They have also recently carried out a full professional polish and setup.

The list value of the bass is £18,000 which would cover the build of a replacement.

This is an exceptional instrument and has been a pleasure to own and play. I am happy to provide more information, photos, and recordings of the bass on request.

The bass has been busy and can be heard in recordings by John Smith, Martha Tilston, and more Recently Chris Helme (Seahorses)

It is a very reluctant sale - I am now using an older bass, far less valuable, and cannot justify owning both. No Trades.

Wow, that is stunning. Wish I had funds and skills to do it justice. We were at the British Violin Makers Association exhibition not long ago and got talking to Colin (at least the Boss says it was him). It would cost a lot more than this to commission one now as effort to return ratio is nothing compared to a Violin or Viola. A truly stunning instrument that will serve many a generation.
