Finally found another after years of searching. Ibanez 5902.

I have been searching for years for another Ibanez 5902 from the 1960's as it was my first bass.

Tonight I have found one on ebay http://preview.tinyurl.com/nxqht6n

Unfortunately it is priced at a little too much for nostalgia at £999.00
Mine was also mahogany as I stripped the paint and french polished the body and fitted a Gibson Grabber style scratchplate back in 1978.
I snapped the neck at the headstock twice and it was repaired. After the third time it snapped I think I threw it away

I can only find one picture of me with it and it only shows the headstock!

Could I possibly sneak this one in through the backdoor?

It looks a beaut. Keep looking or drop the guy an email telling him how pleased you were to see it. You never know

The style looks very much like some of the Burns basses.

It was indeed styled after the Burns.

Found another pic of the bass from my 'Bruce Foxton' era

Its a lovely looking bass but £1k for a bit of nostalgia :-S

Also, I have to ask. I can understand snapping a headstock once or even twice but how did you manage to damage the same bass so badly THREE times?!

As I remember, the first time it was propped against my amp and fell over. My father pinned and glued it but it came apart one day as I spun round and clobbered my amp with it.
After the second repair it was only a matter of time before it just fell apart again, which it did when a friend picked it up by the headstock!
Soon after (my 18th birthday in 1979) I was treated to a Hofner solid body S7B and the Ibanez was thrown away!

So much for non-angled headstocks being stronger!

To be fair, I'm not sure any angle of headstock is going to compensate for dropping and smashing into amps lol!
