jassbass Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Hi has any one ever put an active preamp in a dj5?can it be done without cutting into it too much?thanx Quote
NancyJohnson Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I looked into this a while back. John East used to make a unit that was based on the Lakland curvy bell plate; I think the part was a straight drop-in replacement. You're going to need to do a degree of work to get the unit installed. Quote
lowregisterhead Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) The East J-Retro is fantastic, and an easy fit - no soldering involved. It comes fitted on a plate, and just drops straight in, you connect the pickups and away you go. All you need is a small flat-tip screwdriver. Edited March 8, 2014 by lowregisterhead Quote
andyonbass Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 you need the John East DJ Retro Quote
lowregisterhead Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I'm guessing it's exactly the same preamp, just with a Lakland plate. £10 more, though! The DJ5s are great basses anyway, but the East pre transformed mine tonally. Really worth the money. Quote
NancyJohnson Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Jassbass: You'll find that collectively you'll get a better response if you don't post the same topic in different areas of the forum! You've posted virtually the same topic two minutes apart both here and in the Bass Guitars area. P Quote
NancyJohnson Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 ...and in the Effects area about ten days ago! Sheesh. Quote
