EssentialTension
Those of you who use Schaller strap locks, do you just tighten the nut on the strap, or do you also use thread lock to prevent the nut from losening? I notice that Locktite make several types of thread lock and wondered which one was most commonly used by Basschatters?
I don't use Loctite or anything but I do regularly do a finger-tight check and if it's loosening then get the spanner out.

Prime_BASS
I used to use the dun lops, but got smashed at a bar the other night and came away with 5 or 6 washers from those Grolsch bottles. Been using them since.
Count Bassy
Metal Dunlop ones here. Never had a failure, very quick to engage and release, no separate rubber bits to drop on the floor. The fact that you have to push the button in the middle while pulling the whole thing to take it off means that it's never come off when I didn't want it to. Jonnyboy Rotten
Rather than changing the pins use Planet Waves straps with the ratchet in the strap ends. Means you can easily swap the strap from guitar to guitar without worrying about the pins. Only a couple of quid more than normal straps! Swear by 'em! arthurhenry
The actual strap button split in half. Worth examining on your basses to look for evidence of wear ( a groove around the button).
Beer of the Bass
I'm sure I've seen more posts on here about basses being damaged due to straplock failure than due to not using them! I'm another bottle washer fan.
Bolo
You could easily start a topic on strap fails if you want. I have had straps come off mid-gig before I used straplocks.
dmccombe7
Tried a few on my Jazz but the screw kept loosening off. Then tried the schallers and because they are close to the bass body they stay tight. That's the only difference that I can see. Philip_
strap locks have always seemed like a woefully overpriced product to me. some of them are 30 quid which is ridiculous. Edited April 21, 2014 by Philip_

chrismuzz
I'm going to mention bottle washers again. I throw my basses all over the place now that ive got them on and they haven't let me down!
