leroybasslines Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I'm not a Ric kind of a guy, but when I think of Ric kind of guys, I think of this guy: http://youtu.be/x4Hfw5X4XjY Quote
Highfox Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Bit different, but this is one I think of as pure Ric. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d66rCCoAJB0 Quote

When I first got my Ric, that was the first song I played along to. Now Ric gas free. Edited March 8, 2014 by Highfox Quote
EliasMooseblaster Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I know we've had a Lemmy clip already, but just to represent the other extreme of what you can do with a Ric: http://youtu.be/5wfzGkldPnc Quote
Annoying Twit Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 For Wings this is the song that most made me desire a Ric. Unfortunately, all I have (and can justify buying) is a Ric-shaped-instrument but it does it for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGgeGxji3A0 Quote
KevB Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 From about 2mins in, that's a real ric that is... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVhaA98t8bs Quote
dannybuoy Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) Wolfmother - Dimension: Also The Hives - Hate To Say I Told You So (mainly for the bass face in the solo!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uz1Jwyxd4tE Edited March 24, 2014 by icastle Link fixed. leroybasslines Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Great 'tache to accompany the bass face from the Hives there too. A moustache most definitely adds some brown to your tone. Quote

EMG456 Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I was a complete Rick nut when I started out - had three for a while including a 4080 double neck!! From the Prog side of things, the guy who I reckon had the best Rick sound at the time - Neil Brewer of Druid. Detuned to D as well... unfortunately no video here but what a sound. Also, rather better known, Jon Camp of Renaissance, here in a live Sight and Sound show... If you prefer a flatwound kind of thing, 10cc's Graham Gouldman - the first few albums were basically all Rick and interestingly I noticed video of GG and 10cc at Fairport's Cropredy festival in 2013 and lo and behold there was a black Rick again! Lastly but not leastly in the flats category, David Paton of Pilot - Magic as they say. Mr P also played on Kate Bush's first album and although alledgedly the bass on Wuthering Heights was played by producer Andrew Powell, it sounds suspiciously like Paton's Rick to me and indeed Paton says he played on it - funny old world.
