Thinking of blacking Geddy Jazz Hardware

So I'm thinking of blacking out my hardware on my Geddy Jazz and really stealthing it, basically the bridge , tuners and control plate.

I was just looking for some advice on what would be good to buy really, I'm not clued up on this stuff so any advice would be welcomed.

I'm also having a bit of a problem with the Badass bridge and heavier gauge strings not fitting all the way through it due to the extra wrap around so possibly wouldn't go with a black version of that?

I'd like to get some strap locks fitted as well, what are you guys using if any?

For straplocks, i use bottletops. Cheap and they work :D Providing you dont swap straps, its ace.

I do that too! It's such a handy thing to do plus it gives you an excuse to drink more beer! "Bartender, I need 2 more beers please, i'm drinking for safety!"

Apart from that, I swear by the Schaller strap locks. They're about £10-£15 depending on where you get them from but I've never had one break in 6/7 years? Even used to swing my bass around my neck before I got an expensive bass/got too fat to do it.

With regards to your problem with the BAII not letting through heavy gauge strings, what gauge are you using? I've got Rotosound Swing Bass 125-60 (5 string set minus the G as i tune it B-E-A-D) on my 4 string Tobias and they went through without any problems. All I can say is to get a black one but drill the holes a little wider if you so need to but they shouldn't be getting caught like that.

Your Geddy will look amazing with all black hardware though. I seriously recommend buying a set of Schaller BMFLB tuning pegs to go on it. They're a direct replacement and they're so solid they won't slip out of tune. Again, I use these on my basses (BMFLB is the black set, BMFL is the chrome set)

That's bloody impressive. I've got one of these and thought about removing the scratch plate for effect but this is out and out stunning.

I use the schaller strap locks too and they are best i've tried. Found other types tended to loosen themselves regularly and put it down to length of lock from the bass body. Had to check them almost every time i used the bass. Since using Schallers i've never had to touch them.
