EmmettC
I just picked up a Gallien Krueger 700RBii 2x10 combo off rosco (of this parish) this morning. Great guy to deal with by the way. First impressions are great, I've been struggling for years to find a reasonable size gigging combo that I like, and finally I think it's here. My main, and definitely favourite, rig is my EBS hd350 and Proline 4x10, but it's a bit of a handful and not always easy to hear in small venues when it's pointing at my ankles and I'm right beside it. I tried a Markbass 2x10 combo, but I just didn't like the sound. The kickback function was great though and I actually considered trying to mount my EBS head into it, but probably wisely traded it for a TC Electronics bg250. I loved the bg250 combo, but it just didn't seeem like it would last prolonged gigging, the cover was marked after one trip in the van with the rest of the gear, and it wasn't quite giving me a punchy enough sound. So it often stayed at home in favour of the EBS even for smaller gigs. The GK is pretty big, but it has little wheels, and it's much smaller than the EBS. It has a kicks back like a monitor, and I guess most importantly it sounds great. So far I've just left the eq flat, given it a little contour and some tweeter and it sounds great. Typically I don't have a gig I can use it for a couple of weeks, but I can definitely see it being used really regularly. Anyone else using one of these? Damonjames
Welcome to the GK club! Glad you are happy, I bought my GK rig in November and love it to pieces. Does the 2x10 go loud enough?
EmmettC
It certainly seems loud enough, I gig with a wedding band and we have a reasonably big pa, so it's mostly for personal monitoring. I might look for a 1x15 cab at some stage for my industrial band, but I'm certainly happy for now.
