Was wondering have anyone got any details on the old Trace Eilliot amps. I think the model is GP11.

I'm looking for a cheap amp head that will do the job for me if my LB30 is not enough for the venue without PA support.

I can get hold of one for like £60 ...... the guy says is the early 80's model.

Looks like an AH150, as I'm pretty sure all the larger models (AH250 and 500) used to have the UV light strip built into the front...

GP11 refers to the 11 band graphic on the pre-amp. I assume this also have a power section incorporated? But even if it is just the pre-amp (I can't tell from the small pic) then it is still a good price.

Trace watts are not like other manufacturers' watts. They are LOUDER (and heavier...). But also cheaper!

Great amps IMO, well worth twice what you are being asked for! B)

The guy reply me and he said the amp is 200 Watt with power and pre amp all in the case. Just need a cab to connect to the head.

I guess this will be my solutions. Carrying thr head is better then carry heavy cabs lol.

Not light weight, but second hand Trace Elliots are good in terms of value for money. An entirely different sound to any kind of valve head though, so don't expect much old school 'warmth', at least not without a pedal or two.

Nice amp, but may be some work. Don't let that put you off, it probably wouldn't cost much. A great all purpose little amp, and very powerful for its size. The earlier GP11 with the XLR input (great idea if it had been taken on by others) is a great preamp.

Oh god. £60? Go for it. Bite his hand off. The GP11 is quite rare these days and highly regarded by TE users. £60??? Blimey, it's worth 3 times that if its fully working and really is 200w. It's not that heavy, and if you do consider it heavy then its still a manageable size to shift about.

Cheers

Yeah, I think the guy want to get rid of it. He said the amp is in full working condition. All I need is a decent cab to connect the amp. Although I like micro head but the price on this TE is hard to pass. I play a old TE 15" combo in church and the amp is freaking loud for 150watt. Is insanely loud should say.

You'll probably find that these old trace heads sound better than many micros. As has been said , they aren't that heavy at all. I remember the days when all we cared about was the sound an amp made , nowadays first thing many care about is the weight !!
Anyway 60 quid for this ? If you don't buy it then I will !

you can always buy a lighter cab to go with it i have an ah300smx and its the best bass head ive ever owned its heavy but the old ampeg 1510 cab i used to use with it was the heavier part of the set up for £60 i wouldnt think twice

I have got the amp yesterday. Need more time to see do I need a service on the amp. Where can I service the old trace amp in UK these days?

Pretty much any tech who has worked on bass amps for longer than 10 years. Chances are they will have worked on a Trace Elliot at some point.

Cheers mate, I will drop him a email. The amp sounded very nice but I'm not too sure is it my cab or the amp that sometimes the sound go from clean to distort sound. It goes back to clean if I switch the preamp off and turn it on again ......

The cab I'm using is the TC BC212.

Don't all Trace Elliot amp have the serial number on the back along with the watt rating? Doesn't have it on my ...... Is it a different poweramp i got their which is not original? The poweramp is very noisy when power on compare to modern amps. I mean the fan noise is noisy like a computer server .....
