ML94 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Hey Guys, I'm just scoring out a piece of music for my A level on Sibelius and have stumbled on something ! I'm looking for a trill which doesn't play the upward note but rather the downward note - A downward trill. Is there a specific name for this inverted trill on Sibelius or do you just have to state it on the notation ? Thanks Quote
DaveFry Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I'm not familiar with Sibelius but look for the symbol that looks like an ordinary trill but with a short vertical line through it , in the same way as the difference between an upper mordent and a lower mordent . I have always known it as an inverted trill . hth Quote
ubassman Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 +1 Think what you are describing is a 'Mordent' - have a look here http://www.music.vt.edu/MUSICDICTIONARY/appendix/ornaments/ornaments.html Quote
