bumnote Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014
Fits perfick atop a model 404, IIRC
or a nice late model 406 which is what the 220 was normally paired with Quote
jetofuj Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I know, but they're almost impossible to find in Europe. I hope that Martin will give us updates about his new amp! Quote
JamesBass Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 For influence I'd be looking at the Ashdown CTM300 all valve amp, it's simple yet has enough features to help the gigging bass player rather than confuse you with all the bells and whistles! Plus the tone on it is absolutely killer! The front end drive is awesome! I've not had the chance to fully drive the back end yet :/ I will soon hopefully! Quote
JPJ Posted October 13, 2015 Author Posted October 13, 2015 Finally, an update from Martin about his all valve bass amp "A long time coming but it's been worth it - the YI200 Stoneham 200w all-valve bass head, christened by this very group! This is the very first one off the production line, following some endurance tests you can bring your basses/cabs down from next week to see what you think. I'll report back later :-) Quote
Matt P Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 that is a very tasty looking amp, I see that there's a bit of space between the case and the chassis at the sides, would it be possible to make this any narrower? My cabs are only 15" wide (and 15" deep) and I'm not a fan of amps overhanging the cabs, if it could be built to fit atop my current cabs then I'd be very interested! Matt Quote
acidbass Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 YI 200? Is this because you're from the Toon man? Quote
JPJ Posted October 13, 2015 Author Posted October 13, 2015 The name was chosen after a poll on the local N.E. Bass Players Forum run by our very own WaterOfTyne. I believe that there was a regional aspect to the naming ;-) Quote
Lw. Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Nice - it'll be interesting to hear how it sounds! Quote

JPJ Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 Quick update: Martin posted this on facebook earlier this week which has done nothing to calm my GAS for this amp! "Ok, following some soak testing, it appears I've underestimated the capability of the KT120 power valves. The design does indeed give 200 watts with 6550 valves, but these things can drive much harder and I've just measured 280 watts clean RMS" Quote
peteb Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Apologies for reviving an old thread but it appears that I will be using one of these amps at the Reivers Rock & Blues Festival in Northumberland on Sunday night. It appears that they are using a Stoneham bass amp as part of the house rig (not sure what cab will be there). Should be interesting, although using house rigs at these type of gigs can be a bit of a lottery if you don't know what the gear is like. Has anyone here gigged one of these amps and how did it perform?? Quote
I can't help you re: the amp (although as Martin Stoneham has built it, I imagine it's tremendous), but I gigged at the Reivers venue last weekend - in the same marquee, I'm guessing - and it's a beautiful place. Enjoy it. Quote
