Smythe
Hello Bass Chatters, Just thought I'd post up on here my bands EP was finished on saturday and I would like to share it with you via Soundcloud. Im really chuffed with the material we have produced as - for the first time that I've been in an original band - everyone has had an input and kept completely open minded. The recording isnt too bad either although if you have dissected it as much as we have then you will notice somethings that are tweakable. We were surprised to here we got air play on BBC Introducing on BBC Cumbria this evening and we are not sure how they got it, it must be from the sound engineer who did the recording! here goes and i hope you all enjoy https://soundcloud.c...6-hour-day-ep-1 Regards, Smythe Edited March 13, 2014 by Smythe
SubsonicSimpleton
Just listened and enjoyed, particularly the second track "Storm of Discontent" which immediately reminded me of listening to the Bhundu Boys for the first time on John Peel's(R.I.P) radio show many years ago. Smythe
Thanks for the feedback Sub. We enjoy playing these songs and have quite a carefree, optimistic vibe when we get together and play/practise/write. We're back on BBC Introducing Cumbria tonight from 8pm onwards apparently, they sent an email out to use saying they're really digging "Wasting Time" which is a good thing i suppose. :-) http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p012bztt Regards, Smythe. discreet
Had a listen and liked it - shades of The Cure-type exuberance in places (no bad thing). Some very nice playing, too. As a bass player, I really like the bass being up front and centre in the mix like that, but being sensible (what?? ) I think overall I would have placed it a little closer to the kick drum in level for a bit more interplay... I think this would have been better for the songs in general. Bloody hell, I must be mellowing in my old age! Really cracking effort, though. Nice one. Smythe
Cheers discreet. Yea, we are aware of the high mix the bass and vocals have. . We were thinking of tweaking it but it can be like opening a can of worms once you start doing that. We also noticed it sounds better when the music playing medium is eq'd flat.
