In a nutshell QC was really good, the versions that had been brought out from 96 onwards had had issues sorted out and honed. Materials used were of high quality, as was finish. But more than the sum of the parts just generally so damn playable. Certainly, every one I have used/owned from that period was excellent. As good as post 2008 IMO.
