ambient Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Something I'm working on for my degree course. It has to include a wind instrument, either brass or woodwind. I'm using an oboe sample, but I've enlisted the help of a lady oboe player who's very generously donated her time to replace the samples with a real oboe, in return I've said she can use the music on her website. Check it out and please let me know what you think. https://soundcloud.com/ambient-bassist/happier-now Quote
charic Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) Quite like that mate, very atmospheric reminds me of something by Jesper Kyd. Maybe this could provide a little inspiration for you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcsWMSCBZRM Edited March 24, 2014 by icastle Link fixed. Quote

SpaceChick Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 I like it, very moody and atmospheric. Did you decide not to go for a flute then? Having playing Oboe in a previous life, I have to say I think this piece suits the dynamic of an oboe. Quote

I'd still like to use flute too. I emailed your friend and sent her a rough mix of the music, she's probably like me and got loads of work on. Quote
mcarp555 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Very nice. Reminded me a lot of Departure from the Northern Wasteland, an album I used to have by Michael Hoenig. Good production values, although I think I would have dropped the level on the percussion just a tad, as it seemed to dominate the overall aural spectrum. Not a serious flaw, just a personal preference. Quote
