PauBass Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) I posted this yesterday on and old Zoom B3 thread but, since there hasn't been an replies I tought some of you might be missing on it. Anyway, over in Talkbass they have started a petition asking Zoom to update the B3 so it supports more effects at a time...not sure if it will make a difference or not but signing won't cost us a penny and, who knows? ...maybe Zoom will listen! Petition here: https://www.change.o...-b3-version-2-0 Talkbass thread here: http://www.talkbass....oom-b3-1063185/ Worth a try in my opinion as it would make the B3 far more useful and versatile. mikeh Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I've signed it, but to be fair I'm very happy with my B3 as it is. Quote

DiMarco Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) LAL. Wish they'd just make it sound less mediocre. Right now it is just a rather big tuner. Edited March 23, 2014 by DiMarco Quote

lefrash Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Signed. Although according to that link there is a technical reason why they cant do it, so is there much point. (i didnt read the whole thing just the first post) Quote
chrismuzz Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I'm pretty sure a few people have emailed them and they've said it wouldn't be possible to update due to the processor power needed for some effects. Would be great though! Quote
tauzero Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Given that response, I think I may look at running the B3 and MS-60B in series... I emailed Zoom in Japan about this some time ago and they said then that there were no plans, though they didn't mention a technical limit. Can't see why they can't put the B3 up to four effects though, it's the same processor as the MS-60B which does do 4. Quote
stoo Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014
.
And presumably the same as the one in the B1on which can do 5, but loses the switching flexibility and triple screens. And looks like a drunkenly conceived prototype of a hybrid between a nintendo gameboy and an etch-a-sketch. Quote
dannybuoy Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 For those that didn't see the reply posted on the TB thread:
Dear Mr. Paul Moffat, Please be advised that Zoom has no intention to update B3 firmware which adds same simultaneous effects capability as G3, because 1. Bass effects and Amp simulation uses more DSP power than guitar effects. Wider frequency response and dynamic range raises larger ROM size and DSP clock consumption. Therefore more than 4 simultaneous effects causes frequent “DSP FULL” notice. 2. According to our market research, in general, bass player prefer to use fewer effects array compare to guitar player, and prefer simple to use. For example B3X does not exist because demand of expression pedal for bass effects is not strong. We would appreciate for the request of B3 firmware update, since it shows how much people loves the B3 and how much people expecting the update. However please understand why we cannot respond to your expectations because of reasons above. We will provide strong products continuously and respond to market demand by future products. Sincerely yours, ZOOM Corporation
Quote
