jazzyvee
I want to start recording my gigs from the perspective of where I am on stage. Do you know of a lightweight video camera that can clip onto the headstock so that I can record either what i'm playing or to my strap to record what is going on in front of me. I was thinking something like the ones cyclists clip to their helmets or bikes. I guess it's also possible to get a mounting device and use my iPhone but I've not found anything that seems suitable and non intrusive yet. Any ideas? Cameronj279
I've heard of a lot of people using "go pro" cameras but as far as I'm aware they are [s]not cheap[/s] bloody expensive.
LiamPodmore
For small action cameras GoPro is the the main one, with good reason. They can be quite pricey if you go for the 3+ Black Edition and any extra bits and pieces, but the older ones work just as well in most cases. Contour are the other main brand but i'm not sure on pricing or quality on those. Liam

There's lots of copies available quite cheaply on ebay. Seem to work reasonably well, just don't expect hi quality. Cheers, Doug
Myke
Yeah, GoPros are the main choice. Just expect to spend money and have the fish eye lens affect all the time* *I'm pretty sure that this is true.. But it could just be their lens of choice.. Hmm.. May have to research that. [/quote] That can be fixed in post. I think it's even an option in the GoPro studio. It's the nature of having a wide lens. It can be altered on the camera, wide, meidum and narrow - but you'd tend to leave in wide to capture the most action and the fact youhaven't got a viewfinder (unless you buy the LCD back). ZXRRDave
I've been using a Lava Sports headcam on my race bike. In a few sessions at Snetterton hitting 160mph plus and up to 1.8g on the brakes (according to the telemetry) it stayed clear and watchable, so being plonked on the end of a bass should be well within it's capabilities. They are usually about a hundred quid (so about a third of the cost of a gopro) but I paid 30 as ex display. I'll be giving it a try at some point on the bass too to check my form whilst learning.
