TheRockinRoadie
Hi all, I haven't had my Skyline 44-02 out much until recently, and it could do with a fresh set of strings and a set up really. I do all this sort of thing myself and for others, but I'm a little bit concerned about cleaning the frets, as the maple neck seems fairly unfinished to me. Normally I would mask the neck and use careful amounts of brasso, then clean the fretboard afterwards, but I don't want to make everything turn into a big horrible dark smudge. Has anyone got any tips or advise? All help much appreciated! Thanks in Advance, Lorry Edited March 18, 2014 by TheRockinRoadie
TheRockinRoadie
After a bit of research, I think I'm going to try the 0000 grade wire wool method after masking the fretboard. Hopefully that will be safe!

With little effort Your frets will look like new and your fretboard wont be a mess.

TheRockinRoadie
Just to let you all know the set-up went really well last weekend, and the bass plays fantastic! The wire wool methods works fantasically, but it does leave a lot of mess. i don't mind though! Grangur
Another alternative to the wirewool is to use a scotchbrite type scourer. Use I dry, of course. This has the benefit f not falling apart and sticking to the pups.
