aonindy
Hi all, thought some of you might have some experience of this so here goes! I need to do some on camera recording, but want the sound to be good. What I read says the best job is to use a lav mike pinned to the collar, stuck into something like a Zoom H1 hung on a belt / in a pocket. The idea then is to use a clapper (hands!) ... record away on the camera and the zoom, then when editing, use the clap to bring the two together and marry the video with the good quality lav recorded sound. What I have read here and elsewhere says the Zoom is a good little unit and should do the trick. What I am not sure about is the lav mike. I have seen demos of a Rode Smartlav - seems good, but there is an underlying hiss/background noise from it. The question is, for those who know the Zoom ... can I tweak out much of the background noise etc using the Zoom? thanks, Al.
