gsgbass
I received my Midnight Blue 4003 in today. A really nice fretboard on her. Plays great too. I was going back, and forth between the Jet Glo Black, and the Midnight Blue. After opening the case, the Midnight Blue was a good choice. gsgbass
Thanks Gents, again for the great kind words. I had a Mapleglo, and a Ruby. Personally the Midnight Blue is my Achilles Heel for 4003 finishes. The Walnut 4003 does look amazing. Chiliwailer
Killer colour is Midnight Blue, but the fingerboard was the knock out punch for me, stunning!
chrismuzz
Lovely looking Ric! The one I tried out a couple of years ago was just like this, but the fretboard was nowhere near this stunning

gsgbass
This Midnight Blue was purchased sight unseen through, Sam Ash.com. It worked out ok. The Caribbean Rosewood, (Chechen), has been looking pretty good in place of the former, African Rosewood, (Bubinga). gsgbass
The 4003 series, has the pull out, Classic Sound setting on the bridge pups' tone dial. With it pulled out, it gives the 4003 the Classic 4001 series sound.
Billy Apple
I love the figure in the fret-board of the midnight blue
gsgbass
Of the 4003's I've had, I like this one the most.
gsgbass
Just wondering, how many 4003 players with the Classic pull tone knob onboard their 4003, use the Classic setting. I've played with it a bit, but never really cared for the sound much. Anyone use theirs?
Not me, mostly I use neck only and the rest of the time both pickups (for songs where I need less cut through). I find the vintage sound far too thin to use in a band setting.....also to my ears it sounds nothing like an early 70s 4001 anyway. spongebob
I had a late 70's 4001 that sounded just like the 'classic knob' tone. The reason I sold the bass, actually!
