Robinanimate
I am a longtime guitarist/bass newb who is planning the purchase of my first 5 string bass. I would like a versatile bass that can handle everything from classic rock to extreme metal. According to my funds, and availability where I live, I have narrowed it down to the following choices: http://www.gear4music.no/no/Gitar-an...sgitar-Nat/8RQ http://www.gear4music.no/no/Gitar-an...t/QU0#full-des As a third underdog option I have also considered this: http://www.gear4music.no/no/Gitar-an...i/CRA#full-des What would you guys reccomend, and what are the pros and cons for these three basses? I would especially like to know about differences in balance, string buzz and overall neck handeling. White Cloud
My honest advice for this type of question remains the same......Play them all and buy your favourite. Instrument choice is entirely subjective!
Thunderbird
The Yamaha is the best looking IMO I used to own a 4 string Taurus bass I did not like it much bet then again I love the look of Ibbys but just cannot get on with the thin neck so the above advice is spot on try em all and buy what suits you best
pete.young
I guess that since the OP appears to be in Norway his options for trying out guitars are limited, and he can't even hop onto the Bergen ferry these days. There is a TRBX505 in the For Sale forum at very tempting price. Can't go wrong with Yamaha.
MikanHannille
Having owned two TRB's before, I can vouch for the Yamaha TRBX. BTB's and the Taurus ... Never heard a bad thing about them!
Pinball
My honest advice for this type of question remains the same......Play them all and buy your favourite. Instrument choice is entirely subjective!
I agree. If you can try them do. I think they are both good choices and I love Bartolini electronics but the BTB is more quirky so you really should try that one before buying. I have played TRBX 4 and 5 stings and they have all been light and feel great, they have great necks and a really nice sound. If you can't try them go with the TRBX. Washburns? I never played one but I have been offered some 2nd hand here in trades and they don't seem to hold their value well. I see no reason to go there.
