Mudpup
Just picked up a Sandberg California PM4 yesterday. Wheres the serial number likely to be though? Its not on the back of the headstock and i'm curious. Oh, and pics to follow later................. Edited March 22, 2014 by Mudpup
discreet
Is it a special order or custom model?
Mudpup
Think it may be... Its a PM/VM4 in satin blackburst, rosewood neck with a matched headstock and block markers. Sort of like a Supreme but non standard colour. Has the older knobs with the Sandy logo on.

Sammers
Lovely looking bass congrats! I don't know if it's standard procedure but my 'berg has the serial written on the underside of the pickguard too, so might be worth checking?

tbonepete
Oooh, that's a lovely looking bass you have there, well done on getting it. looks really classy. Re serial number, my vm/pm? has it stamped in the back of the headstock (can't say about the pickguard as I've never had call to remove it), and my previous Ken Taylor 5 also had it stamped in the back of the headstock. Both mine were just plain stamped numbers, but pictures I see these days (bass direct etc show a black fancy transfer on the back of the headstock with what looks like the serial number still stamped into the wood in the centre of the transfer). I guess that if it's a custom/showpiece order it may not be numbered, or indeed if it's had a new neck at some time, but this is unlikely after all it's a Sandberg!!! Stunning looking bass in any case. Cheers Pete
discreet
Woah! What flavour of pickup is that at the bridge? I think I read somewhere regarding Sandbergs that if there is no serial number due to special order or custom job, then there should be a certificate of authentication with the bass. Of course I may have just dreamt it. La-la-la.
gary mac
Lovely looker. Bet it sounds huge, with those pups and the rather large pole pieces. Nice buy.

Really liking it after an initial front room tinkle today. Gonna pop a Hipshot detuner on it, get a couple of gigs out of it and probably pop my Spector up for sale (trying to keep a strict 2 bass policy) Edited March 22, 2014 by Mudpup

thebuckets
There was one of these on eBay last week that I was thinking of taking a punt on. It was advertised as a supreme but they are all gloss black or cream on alder this looked like an ash black burst so more than likely a special.. Great P basses regardless well done

JapanAxe
Welcome to the PM4 club! Loving the block markers and matching headstock face. Here's mine: BTW the S/N on mine is kind of embossed inside the middle of the 'German Quality' sticker on the back of the headstock:
