The fasting showman
You've got to do a few off Captain Lockheed too; Widow maker, Right stuff, Ejection. Some bass strangling potential there.
Pinball
Kings od speed? Ejection, is a great choice or what about Urban Gorilla?
chriswareham
Assault and Battery - must include the massive keyboard sound though, and I could live without the annoying flute, but it's still my favourite Hawkwind song. Another vote for Hassan I Sahba as well.
sprocketflup
get a sax player in and do Steppenwolf. And another vote for the HLL version of quark strangeness and Charm, My favourite album tho is Chronicles of the Black sword, so do that. All of it please. keeponehandloose
Robot from PXR5( I think). remember seeing them do that with strobe lights going crazy,
JapanAxe
Those song titles have awakened memories of the late 70s when I used to listen to Hawkwind. I saw them at Sheffield City Hall about the time Quark... came out. I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy them now, but a decent tribute would surely do well around the festivals. Number6
Loads of food for thought there guys.....the back catalogue is massive so loads to choose from.....tempted to get a Saxophone player in too.....love the early Nik Turner stuff! Thanks for the input :-)
bottomfeed
....another vote for any/all off of SPACE RITUAL! That album was one of the reasons I took up the bass!.... & still gets my space rock bone up!
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
Magnu, spirit of the age, or gone accumulator , brainstorm, lord of light, paradox, choose your masks, angel of death, who's gonna win the war,psi power..
Mark Dyer
Something from Levitation and Warriors… for sure, and maybe Choose Your Masks?
EliasMooseblaster
For a band that's got such a massive back catalogue, would you do better to focus on a particular era of Hawkwind? Personally I've never really got into most of the Calvert-era stuff (well, maybe throw in High Rise and Spirit of the Age) but then I've always thought their best stuff was from the début album through to Warriors at the Edge of Time. If you could recreate some of the wonderful soundscapes off the first album I'd really be impressed - though that may not be a particularly crowd-pleasing set! Lasermonkey
So many! Born To Go (probably the first song I learnt to play), Lord Of Light, Brainstorm, Down Throigh The Night, Space Is Deep, Orgone Accumulator, It's So Easy (though you'd need the Mellotron!), Assault And Battery/Golden Void, High Rise (lovely bassline on that), Robot, 25 Years, I could go on! And a shout-out for Spiral Galaxy 28948.
verb
If you get a sax player, you could include some Inner City Unit,Gas Money is a top tune. Edited March 23, 2014 by verb

alyctes
You Shouldn't Do That needs to go on my list, and It's So Easy. Magnu works too but I think it's too long (but I love the mellotron/fiddle parts .

vsmith1
+1 for everything! For me the key albums are Doremi and Space Ritual. But also Hassan I Shaba is very neat. Don't forget to get a Liquid-Len class light show!
