stewblack
Came home from holiday to find a neighbour's cat had been in through an (stupid i know) open window and pissed, twice, up against my lovely new Epifani cab. Now, does anyone know if the cones will have been irrepairably damaged? is there anything I could or should do? Most of it appears to be on the grill but stands to reason that some will have penetrated.
Dood
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!! I love Cats in general.. but that is a crime whose punishment is met by returning the crime itself! Come here kitty! I too have a full bladder!!!! *no cats were harmed in the making of this punishment idea*
Kiwi
I can't imagine a nastier thing to happen to any of my gear, apart from physical impacts. Bass cases are a classic magnet for cats and the smell of some of the adhesives used to stick the linings can encourage them to get jiggy with their bladders. Dealing with the residue is simple enough with a damp cloth. However the smell might require more work. There are a lot of home remedies involving vinegar and stuff that I've never found have worked much at all. The stinky component of the pee is made out of alkaloids so using solutions of bleach or other normal house cleaning stuff (which are alkaline) isn't going to get rid of the smell. You need something that can dissolve the alkaloids like a degreaser. There are products on the market but you might never get rid of the smell if its been absorbed into the paper cone. I'm not overly concerned about the smell it doesn't seem too bad, but will it damage the cones? Time will, of course, tell. The cab won't be for sale any time soon, smell or no smell, it is a wonderful piece of kit.

lowhand_mike
hmm, soo glad i got rid of mine a while ago, no i didn't line em up an shoot em, they now reside in the pleasant surrounding at my folks house. though i had to stop the wife and kids bringing the rabbits in the house cos they kept chewing everything, chair legs, clothes you name it and i can only imagine the damage they would do to my bass and amp, oh the horrors... Kiwi
You could always chew the rabbits instead. Very tasty slow roasted with a thick brown gravy, cranberry jelly and walnut mash.

Delberthot
skinned, it is truly hard to tell the difference between a cat and a rabbit. Especially with good gravy

As far as I'm concerned that sounds like a lame way of deflecting attention from who left the bluddy cat in the front room with my lovely, expensive 2X10 scent marking post. Once they've used something once it seems they just can't get enough. My fear of course is that the cones have been damaged by the virulent chemicals inherent in the repulsive creature's urine. Still as long as my ever sympathetic fellow BCers are getting a chuckle at my expense then I suppose it's worth it. Won't bother advertising where we're playing next - just tell people to follow their nose.
