Wooks79 Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 If I wanted to get a valve power amp, 200-300 watts, what UK builders are around that are my options? Cheers Quote
mxm Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 ...or you could hunt around for something like a used rack-able Ampeg SVT300 ? I've been down that route. Quote

mxm Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 I'd say they're pretty rare but they'll gather dust in shops as they're more of a specialist item, so it may be worth hunting ?!!! Or chances are you may get a decent deal on someone selling one bundled with a preamp of some description. Quote
Bassnut62 Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 One word........Burman! Check em out...they're big and wonderful and relatively cheap for the quality they deliver. Quote
roonjuice Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 svt 300. Cadillac of valve power section also doubles as an outstanding hifi amp!! Quote
krysh Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 all good advice, but my question would be what preamp do you intend to use? Quote
Roland Rock Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014
Ashdown CTM300!
That's more of an integrated amp than a power amp, no? Quote
You can get a Mesa Boogie Prodigy for the price of a CTM300 A cheaper option is to get a older all-valve head, e.g. Sound City 120 or 200 and just use the power amp stage though the Effects Return. I would suggest a Mesa Boogie Strategy 400 - 200w a side. But they don't come up very often. Quote
roonjuice Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Stratergy 400.... sex. Particularly with an Eden navigator.. Quote
Wooks79 Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 Svt300 and Mesa strategy both look ideal, but might have trouble finding them by the sounds of it! Quote
