Number6
A friend of mine is cutting me a brass scratchplate for my bass (Vintage V96 musicman copy) and i just wondered if i would need to ground it out given that its metal? Are there are pitfalls to fitting a metal scratchplate? Any thoughts appreciated.....
KiOgon
If you connect/bolt/screw your jack socket to it - it will be earthed if the jack is not on the scratch plate - run a wire from under the jack socket to under a pot, clamped by the fixing nuts/washers.# You'll be needing some Brasso to keep it shiny Edited March 25, 2014 by KiOgon
icastle
If you're using a metal jack socket then it'll earth the scratchplate at the same time (the threaded 'tube' is 'earth' anyway). If you're going to do that then I'd recommend using a dap of thread lock on the socket before doing the nut up - after all, if it shakes loose then you've got no earth.
