Jimi Goodwin - Doves - bass sound

Any thoughts what the guy is using for his sound - it feels pretty clean to me, which is what I like most, but also that tone, feels compressed, understated, resonant but not pushed?

Perhaps it's just the lovely interaction of the valves from his Marshall stack?

Great call, I always forget what a great band Doves are. Good video too, just what I needed after a thrash of a day. No idea about his bass sound, I'm afraid, more interested in how he sings like that, great voice.

I doubt it.

Jimi has a great tone though. Saw him a couple of weeks ago on his solo tour. He's on good form.

Had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Goodwin last night at the Thekla in Bristol, my friend plays guitar in his band. Great gig, cracking songs and the band was good, drummer Bo Walsh, in particular was steaming.
Jimi took time to have a chat afterwards, lovely humble bloke, very nice to my wife...
He was using a precision into an SVT CL . On his pedal board was a Wampler Ego compressor which I think was on most of the time, BOSS LMB-3, EHX Bass Big Muff.

Thanks for posting this. I wanted to get a look at his pedalboard when I saw him but didn't get the chance. Loved the fuzz tone he gets. He used to use a BOSS ODB3 so interesting to hear he's using the Big Muff now

Looks to be strung normally - just played arse backwards with the E at the bottom.
