64k
Not sure if this is right place to ask this question, but hey. I've been looking for software that allows me and few other people to Jam online, so from the comfort of our own home, need to be cross platform (windows/Mac) http://www.cockos.com/ninjam/ seemed to be the answer although I found out that it requires a Power PC chip to run on my Mac, with has an intel chip , I looked for emulators but there isn't much information about. I was considering Google hangouts but, I have yet to test it. Anyway to my question, do anyone else jam over the internet ? and if so what software are you using ? and what are the pit falls you experienced ? lurksalot
I recall seeing a thread somewhere , but can't find it , where it seemed the general conscensus was that it was a bit impractical with latency issues .

lowdown
If you use Cubase or Nuendo, this might be of interest. It works well. thehillscorporation
Latency is the major issue. I've not tried Google Hangouts, but have used Skype and found it to be unworkable due to the time delays I'll be watching this thread with great interest to see if anyone comes up with a good solution I was hoping for something to have been added to Logic X, but as they didn't, I'm sticking to Logic 9 for now. I'm sorry I can't add anything helpful to the thread myself. John. Edited March 31, 2014 by thehillscorporation

SubsonicSimpleton
If you have good bandwidth and a spare machine to run a server, you could try using something like mumble(open source) or teamspeak(proprietary but free) - there will still be latency issues, this is pretty much unavoidable due to the laws of physics, but you might find that by hosting your own server, and using an application that is focussed on efficient audio streaming, you can get significantly better performance compared to using skype/google/whatever where you are relying on a third party to provide you with server time for free. If you wanted to experiment, there are public teamspeak servers available, but there might be bandwidth and geographic distance issues, but probably worth trying anyway, as the client is free, cross platform and fairly simple to use.
