Collection and delivery options: £375 collected from Birmingham. Happy to courier to your door via UPS, which I will arrange and add to the price depending on where in the world you live.

Payment: Bank transfer or cash on collection only.

Age: 21. According to the date on the neck, this bass was born on 16th July 1993.

History: the first owner only had it for a year or two, but managed to put two cigarette burns on the headstock. The second owner played it in his church band for many years, and took much better care of it. Finally, I acquired it in 2012 and have done a few pub gigs with it since then.

Weight/ergonomics: on the light side for a Jazz at 4.12kg / 9.08lbs (US) / 9lbs, 1oz. Balances perfectly on the strap - no neck dive at all.

Health and fitness: Everything is original and in full working order. Neck is straight, truss rod works great, no intonation problems or dead spots to report. Low-medium action, but can be set even lower according to taste. Plenty of life left in the frets. The bridge pup volume knob was a bit wobbly, but this has just been fixed by the legendary Joe at Guitar Spares & Repairs here in Brum. Having said all that, I want to emphasise that this is a road worn instrument - not a fake road worn one, but the real deal. There are lots of dings and dongs, there is some corrosion on the pole pieces and some of the pickguard screws, and there are those two (genuine!) cigarette burns on the headstock. However, none of these flaws affects playability; IMO they just add even more character to what is already an extremely cool instrument.

Pedigree: As far as I know this bass is a 'proper' MIJ Fender; it was sold to me as such, and when I checked the serial number on the neck at The Guitar Project (http://www.guitardat...org/fender.aspx), I got the following result:
"Your guitar was made at the Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan in the Year(s): 1993 - 1994".
I cannot give you a 100% guarantee about the body, however - it's certainly Japanese, and certainly dates from the same time period, but it has some Japanese writing instead of a serial number in the neck joint, so who knows. (If you want to read more on this, see http://basschat.co.u...anji-conundrum/). The asking price of the bass reflects the fact that I'm not absolutely sure about its lineage.

Sound: Whatever the pedigree, this sounds just like a vintage Jazz should. Newly strung with a fresh set of Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky 45-105s, so it's sounding particularly zingy and growly at the mo.

Case: Comes in the same heavy duty old-school hard case (not Fender) that has protected it down the years.

Why selling: I'm now thoroughly addicted to low Bs and want to raise funds for another 5er. I'm sorely tempted to keep this bass just for its unimpeachably cool looks and massive sentimental value, and I know I'm really going to miss it when it's gone, but really this is a working bass that should be out there getting played, not just sitting in its case getting drooled over as a museum piece.

Trade/part exchange options: some of these are very long shots, but hope springs eternal ...

MTD Kingston Saratoga 5, CRB 5 or Heir 5

MTD 535-24 or 635-24

EBMM Stingray 5 - post 2008 only, i.e. must have alnico not ceramic pups.
No other trade offers, please.

Thanks for looking!

Lovely looking bass imho - one of the best colours i reckon
Thanks, Mudpup! Yes, one of my all time fave colour combos. As often happens with sonic blues of this vintage, it has mellowed to an almost sea foam green colour. Interesting reading on this phenomenon here:

Excellent bass.
If one may make so bold, EXCELLENT advert.
Unlike some of the "Fender for sale, pm me", can't be arsed adverts for £1600+ Custom Shops.
Well done that man, as you were.
GLWTS.

I just spent the last 5 minutes getting excited about this bass, thinking I'd like to buy it. I cooed over the pictures & read the excellent ad from start to finish, and then I read the thread to see what other people were saying...

Oh, it's sold. Please, please, please update your topic title with SOLD at the beginning. Thanks.

My dragon contacted you to say this didn't she! To point out that I'm a feckless gear tart!
Well, I've got news for her. I KNOW!
Seriously though, your ad was great, the bass is great, the price was excellent. A winning combination, brilliantly done.
Congrats and enjoy the next one (just keep it longer than I keep any of mine ;) .
Karl.
Edit. Oh, and my photos are always crap, you may be requested to consider a retainer!
