ML94 Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 I;ve always loved the Gospel 'sound', chord progressions and the grooves that you can kick out. I'm not christian or anything myself but I love the music they create. I'm just stuck on where to start looking for some good stuff e.g. albums, tracks. I know the players e.g. Sharay Reed, Thaddieus and so on. its just getting my hands on some of the recordings and hear how the bass is playing, work some stuff out. Any ideas ? Quote
TKenrick Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I've worked with a few Gospel choirs and had much the same problem trying to find the right things to listen to. A lot of the stuff is horrendously cheesy but there's some great playing in there somewhere... Here are some things that I found useful: Israel & The New Breed: 'Alive From Another Level', 'Alive in South Africa' Kirk Franklin: Natalie Grant: Not strictly gospel, but Thadeus appears on the live Jill Scott album 'Experience 826+', which is worth a listen: Quote
ML94 Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 That Jill Scott album is immense. Is that the one with 'The Way' ? brilliant bass playing and arrangement Quote
