I've recorded with it and sounds fine, but I do tend to use the B more on the lower frets on any bass. You do notice the difference in tension. Currently a 125 on there from the factory but may take it to 130 see how that fairs.

Hard to describe, because while the Stingray is my go-to gigging bass I can easily do everything I need on a jazz. And there's something about a jazz that just feels right to me, maybe having played one for 7 years as my main fretted bass?
rasher80
Yeah maybe it's the familiarity. Whilst learning I had a Squier P Special, so it's the combo of P sound and J neck which feels "right" to me. Unfortunately it's not a combination all that common in the lefty world. I toyed with the idea of buying a P and J and switching the necks until I baulked at the outlay it'd need

I bought 2 jazz basses last year (including that Blonde one) and whilst I love the necks and the way the basses look, I have come to the conclusion they are just not for me. I can't quite explain why. I had a Stingray for a while and it was my number 1 until I got my Spector. I still would like a decent P-bass at some point.

I suspect it will be one of the SUB range before long. Tempted by the 5 string 🤔

Tempted by the 5 string 🤔 If you're ever around Hertfordshire/ the bits of Essex I often play in you're more than welcome to have a go on my US Stingray. Best neck I've ever played, the fingerboard as well just makes life easy and THAT pickup just wallops out big big bass. Perfect for covers band gigging. In the shop I actually preferred the sound of the significantly cheaper US Jazz but just felt the overall kick of the Ray was better as a working option.

Very versatile collection there! Edited November 12, 2020 by uk_lefty
Peter Popovic
The blue P bass is just no name bass. I’ve bought it a couple years ago from FB market for 80£. Then I’ve upgraded it with new pickup, did fret work, made a new scratchplate and it’s sounds much better. It has really chunky neck, but comfortable to play. PB50 is pretty good bass for the money, but it’s heeeeeeavy😂. And thanks for your comment.
uk_lefty
Updating the family pic... Left to right: Kramer striker 5 string fretless CIJ Fender jazz 75 Warwick Pro Series Corvette fretless MM Stingray (US 3band EQ) with drop D tuner Lying down... Aria Pro II Superbass Elite I. Bought as a wreck, now up and running after a neck repair, new nut, Kent Armstrong replacement pickup, Kiogon loom (giving more options off the pickup). This bass gives some classic 80s tones. While it doesn't feel as good as my Stingray, let's face it not much will, playing some Duran Duran and ABC just now and it's perfect.

whynot
Came across an old photo recently of my Fender Mustang. Purchased it for £150 used from a shop in London's Shaftesbury Avenue late 70's, before I knew anything about basses. Sold it on a couple of years later, still not realising what a gem of a bass it was and how I may have appreciated it years later. With the original finger rest in that position and look, I guess it was a later 60's early 70's model. 1

LeftyJ
Forgot about this thread! Might as well crosspost what I posted in Gear Porn yesterday: My two Streamer LX's Left is my 2003 Streamer LX5 in Nirvana Black transparent HP (high polish), right is a 2002 Streamer LX4 in Burgundy Red HP that I recently acquired and have barely been able to put down since. The 5-string originally had gold hardware too, but when I got the bass around 10 years ago, much of the goldplating on the bridge had worn off and I felt it would look better with the black. Yay for the Warwick webshop and the affordability of their hardware! Both have chunky ovangkol necks, but I find them comfortable enough to play. The 5-string has been my main axe in my metal band, where it's had to punch its way through a full mix with two 7-string guitars and some keys, and it did so with ease. The tone is a bit scooped but thick and bright, and with just a tiny edge of Ampeg dirt it really does the trick.

This is the finest bass I've owned regardless of price. The neck is a bit thicker than the less expensive SR's but it sure is rock solid. There is something very addictive about the tone this thing gets. Crisp highs, growly mids, and thumpy bottoms. I love the tone, and I even leave most of the controls flat, both pickups fully open. It really kicks booty on my other five Ibanez basses. I just ordered the Nordstrand Big Singles from Amazon and will be placing it on my second favorite, my SR500L. They're that good. I recommend you try one out or buy one. You won't be disappointed.
