Ok thanks! They seem to appreciate 2 books;

1. Electric Guitars: How to Make Solid-Body, Hollow-Body and Semi-Acoustic Electric Guitars and Bass Guitars by Martin Koch

2. Make Your Own Electric Guitar by Melvyn Hiscock

Forgot to answer your question about playing style - usually fingerstyle, occasionally picked, NO slapping, EVER. :)
I posted a reply above at about the same time as you did!

Ok, I see. Whats wrong with slapping :) I ask since you wrote it with capital letters "EVER" :) I see a trend around bass forums being against slapping for some reason. If a certain style serves the tune then I see no reason to not use for example slapping or pulling. All the styles for me look like tools to be used for music making.
I don't think 'slap-dislikers' realize that by expressing against slapping (I read some on your blog too about the dislike) they will scare away the beginners to even try it because of the judgement present.

My apologies for going all 'wise-guy' here :) This is not meant to be personal at all :)

This photos/GAS/showoff thread isn't the right place for a discussion about slapping. But if the last couple of posts do anything to discourage beginners from slapping and instead inspire them to learn how to play bass properly, then the thread will have been doubly useful. B) :P  :sun_bespectacled:

Chinabacker R4005.
It needed a new truss rod cover and some tweaking & tinkering but is real nice looking and playing bass now.

New addition to the herd. Sire Marcus Miller V7 Alder-5 tobacco sunburst.

You get a lot of bass for a decent price, very well built with an extremely versatile preamp onboard.

It's way to quiet here on the left side, the last post dates back to the end May!
Forces me to post the last few additions to the blablas bass family.
Unfortunately most people only have a couple of basses. I do like looking at the ones you post though

Here's my Wal packed up ready to ship back for a refinish and service after 28 years of hard playing. It was originally all black and I had it stripped in the 90s. I can't wait to have it back to its former glory.

Done some work on this one.

Replaced that big piece of white plastic crap with something more modest to show off the beautiful finish and woodgrain.

Also acquired a few new ones since the StingRay 5..

Chinese unbranded Ukulele bass.

Sire Marcus Miller V7 Vintage Ash-5.

Spector Legend 5 Classic.

I think I'm done buying basses for a longer period of time now, I'm without bass-gas at the moment! All the basses I lusted after for a long while are in my possession, the Spector was the last one I really wanted.

High time to finish my DIY short-scale 6 string build.
