bakerster135
How'd it sound!?
Bolo
Stingray flat, Verellen preamp, SWR 750x. Sounds mahoosive! Does that count?
bakerster135
Not quite ;-) Meatsmoke I presume? Strikes me as more of an amplifier preamp than replacing the Stingray onboard preamp (the effect I'm going for!)...I bet that combo sounds beautiful and absolutely massive though! :-)
Bolo
It is the meatsmoke valve preamp, not really comparable indeed. What toneshaping do you want to accomplish that is unique to the sadowsky?
bakerster135
Actually I already own the Aguilar DB924 and use it all the time with my Jazz. I was curious to see whether people had tried either of these with a Stingray, and what tonal effect it had compared to the Stingray's own preamp (i.e. whether either compliments the Stingray's humbucker or not). Just wondered as they are both 2-band, but 18v (Aguilar) and 9v (Sadowsky) respectively, plus the Aguilar OBP-1 was used in the older Modulus Flea Basses which are obviously pretty similar... Any thoughts or experience would be much appreciated!
