SOLD - Yamaha BB400S Fretless Bass MIJ 1984
£220

Having just acquired a '73 P-bass, the 1-in-1-out rule requires that I now let one go. As this is the one bass I don't need for gigging, I am offering it for sale:

From the serial number I have dated this bass to July 1984. I believe it to be all original except for the strap buttons, which are Schaller locking types. Electronics, tuners and bridge all work as they should. I haven't had to touch the truss rod but neck relief and action are currently fine. There is a slight click at the end of each pot's travel. Currently fitted with Elite flats (45-105 I think).

The neck is wide (43.3mm at the nut) and shallow - if you crave the feel of a Jazz, look elsewhere!

Weight is a substantial 9lb13.5oz

Considering this bass is nearly 30 years old, there is remarkably little damage, but here are the main flaws:

(1) Small ding through to wood on top edge

(2) Scuffing to top of headstock

(3) Buckle rash

The neck is in really nice nick:

Looking for [s]£220[/s] [s]£195[/s]£170 delivered in mainland Britain. Please ask any questions about the bass in this this thread, but use PMs for anything to do with negotiations and delivery arrangements.

I literally just a had a little sob to myself because as much as I want this lovely creature, I have no money and no way of getting any before it sells (which it should do very shortly).

Gutted.

I have no idea how long it will take for this bass to sell but I thank you for your kind words ;)

I have an aunt, uncle, and 2 cousins in Hatfield, so who knows what may transpire...

Bank Holiday Bump with P R I C E R E D U C T I O N ! Was [s]£220[/s], now £195 delivered.

Mainly looking for cash sale, but would consider Mono gig bag or TC Electronic Flashback delay pedal with cash my way.

What is the fretboard wood?
I am no wood expert, but I have always assumed the fingerboard was rosewood or something similar.

I've done a quick Google search. This one is described as rosewood. Any BC-er know?

This a is a goody, someone should have this. I bought one in 1984, it was the first fretless I ever owned and gigged in the middle east for four years. A great little bass. Have a bump on me.

Why is this still here? If I didn't have my ratty BB350F and I wasn't so awful at fretless (I don't feel like I deserve the upgrade), I'd be all over this. Bargain.

Saturday evening bump. Happy to consider pedals, accessories, techie bits in PX, but not basses thanks - except maybe a U-bass or Aria Sinsonido.

Thursday bumpage. Straight sale or trade offers. Anyone want to offload a Steinberger Spirit cricket bat?

I've got one of these: http://www.ninestonering.com/craig/hburstxz2/hburstxz2-angle1.jpg
but I think you mean one of these: http://www.maxruckman.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Steinberger-Bass.jpg

Am I right?
