Owencf Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Uh strange things afoot in the plumbing section wait a minute its a plastic trumpet, they even make trombone http://www.ptrumpet.com/ Quote
AttitudeCastle Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 The plastic trombone actually came way before the plastic trumpet, as getting piston valves to work is a big challenge where as a trombone is just a tube, so the friction issue of it wearing itself apart is much less apart. Was one of the first to play both at trade shows when they were shown to the public. My buddy has a pBone and I've been meaning to get one for a while! Great little things, especially for travelling and kids! Quote
GarethFlatlands Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Instant brass GAS. Although it's not made of brass. You know what I mean. Actually very tempted by one of these, purely out of interest to see if trumpet technique will carry over. Quote
alyctes Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 If I played a wind instrument, trombone would be it... you can slide a trombone Quote
discreet Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 £120..? You could get a brass one for that. Quote
Owencf Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 Just makes a good alternative to getting a brass one. Im curious how much replacement parts would be or it might be a trip down to your local plumb centre. Quote

GarethFlatlands Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Watching a couple of videos, you can tell the difference but they still sound pretty good to me. I think you'd be lucky to find a good brass trombone for that money. I got my Bach trumpet for £40 but that was bargain of the century as far as I'm concerned! Quote

GarethFlatlands Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 You're looking at a couple of grand for a top of the range Bb trumpet, the model I got is around £600 new. So yeah, not cheap. Quote
oggiesnr Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 You can also get plastic sousaphones so you can keep playing the bass lines. Steve Quote
DorsetBlue Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 As a former brass band player, I cannot believe that will sound anything like a decent brass instrument but I wait to be proven otherwise. Quote
Owencf Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Lazarus strikes back, Has anyone else had any experience with these horns? Quote

DorsetBlue Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 My local music shop still cannot get one of the pTrumpets in. Quote
AttitudeCastle Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I've got one I use for travelling. The mouthpiece is lame, so I use my regular Rath one, but they are actually not bad at all! A bit of a pain to maintain, but do it right and you barely need to look after them. Really lightweight for younger ones. The Alto ones make great learner horns. I've an Alto one as well as a tenor as it's by far the cheapest way for me to delve into the Alto trombone world. That said I'd say anything is light compared to my normal horn which is a double valve Bass trombone hah! Quote
Owencf Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 Tempting to get just to tinker with and muddle my way along with something other than the Double bass Quote
alyctes Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Oops, my finger slipped... Delivery some time next week. I should probably buy a mute, as well. Any recommendations? Quote

My main B-trom mute has been all around the world and never had a problem! Quote
