steviedee Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 (edited) Hi Folks I just took delivery of a second hand Schaller 2000 5s bass bridge, in good condition boxed etc to replace the bridge on my retrovibe. Unfortunately it's not big enough to cover the holes made by the ferrules! So basically I'm looking for a wider 5 string bridge! Anyone got anything? steviedee Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 Looks like a hipshot transtone or b style bridges might be the only ones that can do the job.
TWILITEZONE Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 what's the min required footprint i.e. covering size?
ikay Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Technical drawing with detailed measurements can be found here - http://guitar-parts.biz/hp193121/Bassbridge-2000-5-string.htm?ITServ=C513d0475X1455a16fc47XY5b7
steviedee Posted April 13, 2014 Author Posted April 13, 2014 The current mm style bridge is 10.5 cm and the schaller 9.6 so a centimetre too short. I'd be looking for a bridge to cover 10.5. Potentially get away with a couple of millimetres here and there.
kdubb24 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 you really need a bridge with a base plate wider than 10 cm?! most I've seen are all around 9.5 to 9.6 cm what is the string spacing of the ferrules? I just posted this bridge for sale, but as most others it's 9.5 wide http://basschat.co.uk/topic/234479-genuine-fender-hmv-high-mass-vintage-5-string-bass-bridge/page__fromsearch__1
steviedee Posted April 13, 2014 Author Posted April 13, 2014 The ferrules are big musicman style anchor bolts on the side of the bridge. The hipshot B Style looks like 4.25 inches.
