bassace
Could someone please recommend an inexpensive tablet that I can use on gigs to display iReal Pro. I won't really need it for anything else, that's why it can be inexpensive. But it should be reliable. For instance, Maplin offer an 8" Android at the mo. Thanks in anticipation. BassBus
+1 on the used iPad. I'm typing this on a used one picked up on ebay for the same price as a new android. Go for a 10" screen as well. I think 8" would probably be too small for reading on a gig. No need for security software on ipads either. Buy an android and you'll probably have to buy that as well which will on cost you more. EmmettC
I'm also typing on a used iPad 2, there's a few in the sell anything section at the moment.

The main risk comes from the fact that there's a chance you can download an app (even from Google Play) that's dodgy. Keep away from dodgy-looking apps and you'll be fine. You can also get AVG Free for er, free for Android. As far as viruses from browsing the web are concerned, Apple are just as vulnerable as anyone else. Probably more so as many people believe them to be immune to viruses. We use Macs in our office and they all have anti-virus on them. In my experience older Apple devices tend to go really crappy with the new iOS software updates. I've got an LG G Pad 8" (KitKat version of Android) which I got for £180 from Amazon. Great bit of kit and as lovely to use as an iPad. I run iReal Pro on there and it runs really well. Although as BassBus says, a 10" screen is probably better for you and I've not used many 10" Android tablets so can't pick one out to recommend which brings us back round to a used iPad Any of you guys running old iPads have any problems with iOS 7 killing the performance of the device?
