Legion Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 (edited) In my endless failure to restrain myself I bought this bass recently thinking that I had worked out what I wanted from a Stingray... Unfortunately I like my Sterling HH too much and I need to sell one of the two. So this gets the chop (probably change my mind in a few months and regret it, but ho hum don't we all!) I haven't pulled the neck off to check but all the obvious signs (and the date sticker on the pots) date this at 1992; the 6 bolt neck plate, the truss rod wheel adjuster & the old style bridge with original mutes intact. It's a great bass in lovely condition for it's age, no wear on the body and only one small nick on the bottom edge near the pots, but being a natural it doesn't really stand out at all. The first few frets seem to have had a hard life but it's not affecting the sound or playability at all. The weight is just under 9lbs which is pretty good as its nicely balanced. Nicely grained body and some nice figuring going on in the neck as well. It's a 2 band EQ which I know a lot of people prefer. Comes with a non-original hard case thats very sturdy and a set of Schaller straplocks are fitted. Looking for offers in the region of £700 for this very clean classic example of a stingray. Brother Jones Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I'm not normally a 'Ray fan, but that's the nicest one I've seen for ages. It'll never look out of date either.
Legion Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 Thanks for the positive comments I am in no hurry so will leave it on here for a bit and try ebay after that J
