Philip_
Hours of fun, have a go at designing your dream Precision or Jazz. http://www.fender.co...gn/instruments/ You can create a P with a J neck on it, which is suddenly making me want to find the £1250 they are asking for one. ahpook
about $2k gets me this. Matching headstock and black hardware would have been cooler. But still.... Hmmmm.....come to Pookie

bigsmokebass
It's 10 minutes of fun and not a lot of freedom if you'd like to custom an instrument. I got my hopes up on a Lotto bass for £1200 as they don't use the wide range pups

I agree that it's too limited to get really excited about, even if they did ship to the UK. Sandberg's is far better.
yes I must admit i'm only really interested in the P body + J neck option. seems more interesting for guitar players - more necks to choose from + various pickups

Dingus
One day Fender will offer a new service by which they start making basses that are actually made properly. You know, where the neck fits in the neck pocket properly and that kind of thing. I shudder to think what kind of Frankenstein's monster might eventually arrive on your doorstep if you actually ordered one of these creations. Fender seem to have a hard time knocking out consistently-made basses when they are in control. If the customer gets any degree of autonomy then anarchy could easily ensue. Musicman20
Wish they would stop messing about and offer all the main body shapes with whatever neck you want, whatever pickups (within reason eg you can have the traditional single coil P), blocks/binding, ashtrays, and DECENT COLOURS. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH COLOURS? It's 2014; just offer normal customers a bass in classic colours like sonic blue and surf green. The latest two colours in the American Standard range are absolutely awful. Cheap red and blue. Nice one.
