flyfisher
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-26512382 Seems like a very optimistic business plan to me, but who knows? Thankfully, they don't seem to have any basses.
mentalextra
Making novelty guitar shapes is nothing new. Unless you're just going to hang it on the wall, its about the sound surely?

flyfisher
So there is - I was obviously too traumatised by the others to notice! Perhaps budding Seasick Steve's would buy something like those, although I don't think he bothers with six strings much. RhysP
Gives a whole new meaning to "oil finished body". I'm sure they'll find a ready market with the irritating hipster crowd - if ukeleles can become popular then it proves that some people really will buy any old sh*t. EssentialTension
This is nothing new, I saw lots of these in South Africa a decade ago. I've also seen them for sale in UK guitar shops too. lurksalot
Probably sound a bit tinny for me , anyway , where is the GTX version , mind you, it would have to be a 10 string I suppose

EssentialTension
By the way, in what sense is this thread 'Off Topic' and not 'General Discussion'?
Diablo
I can imaging hoards of redneck banjo-ists clambering to own a Sunoco gee-tar to play on the porch at night. Wuite how anyone would need hundreds of thousands of dollars to set up such a company is beyond me, there is not exactly a high financial outlay to make one of those, let alone 20 show samples. I guess we put these in the "interesting but ultimately pointless" category.

Cat Burrito
I heard / saw these back in 2007 on holiday in Cape Town. The buskers were amazing and sounded great. I doubt they'll rival the strat but I reckon there could be a market for these.

paul_5
I'd be a bit dubious of a business that has to keep turning to eBegging (crowd funding etc...) to sustain itself.

Then I realised that sometimes, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Jon.
