hamfist
Now splitting for parts. Body now sold, subject to final payment. Will do an advert for the misc sales forum, but for the moment .. [s]J-retro Deluxe - £135 posted[/s] SOLD [s]Fralin SPlit Jazz pickup set125[/s] SOLD Neck plus Schaller tuners and string retainer £199 posted Recently purchased from BC's safc19371973, I bought this bass and one other (a fancy MIJ Ibanez) elsewhere, knowing that I could only keep one. It has been a VERY hard decision which one to sell. I wish I could afford to keep both, but I just can't justify it. Anyway, after a few days of solid testing and comparing I have decided that this one doesn't quite fit my needs at the moment quite as much as the Ibanez. So anyway, never mind all my yabbering, lets talk about the bass ..... It's a Warmoth Jazz constructed 2-3 years ago (by safc19371973). The body is 2 piece walnut, with a clear gloss finish. The absolutely stunning neck is made from Maccassar ebony, both the neck itself and the fingerboard, and contain the standard Warmoth stiffening rods, plus a dual action truss rod (heel adjusted). Nut width is 38mm. Tuners are quality Schaller ones. Frets are stainless steel. Nut is Graphtech. Pickups are Fralin Jazz splits (so standard Jazz, but noise-free) and they are great and definitely right up there with the best J pickups I have ever used. Pre-amp is a John East J-retro deluxe. Bridge is a Gotoh one, including string spacing adjustment, which will give you somewhere between 18-20mm spacing. As you can see this is made from very high quality components, and it has gone together so well it would be an absolute shame to split it up, although it would probably raise more money doing so. The bass is in excellent condition with only a few minor laquer dings on the body, mainly on the sides and rear. How does it play ? Well its a Jazz, and a damned good one. A huge variety of tones available with the East pre-amp. It has a heft and solidity in it's tone that you don't find in many basses (and I'm not talking about deep bass (although it can have plenty of that if you want). It sits in a band mix very solidly. Some Jazzes can be a bit lightweight and get lost a bit in the mix in my experience. This is NOT one of them. The only negative is the weight, and it is not a light bass, at just over 12lbs. However, this mass helps give it such a solid and punchy tone that it is well worth it IMO. On a strap it does not feel it's weight as it balances very well. Will come in a very sturdy Gator hard-case. I will post it to your door in mainland UK for £595, or collect it from the Southampton area for £580, which is what I paid for it. Do you know what the routing is like under the pick guard? Also if you split I will absolutely take the body. hamfist
Do you know what the routing is like under the pick guard?
It's reasonably neatly routed around the neck J pickup, and the gloss finish is good under the pickguard.
