Thunderbird
I wondered this as when I have bought other pickups before they have always come with screws springs and foam
Thunderbird
Just had a very friendly chat via email with Simon from Entwhistle and he has confirmed that the pickups come with screws and springs but not foam which has to be purchased separately so I have ordered a set of PBXN's for my new project P bass

chrismuzz
You might want to set the P pickup a bit lower because if the string gets anywhere near it you get one hell of a racket! Probably won't affect you if you play properly but my right hand technique is quite aggressive

Nibody
Having obtained a nice CAR PJ body, I picked up one of the Neobdnym J bridges to pair with a standard Fender "original" p pickup. My god you could stop a charging Rhino with it. I think I'll be investing in a P/j set for the Washburn next. Never was impressed with Jazz bridge pickups but this one is an eye opener. chrismuzz
Glad you're enjoying it! It's definitely the best j pickup I've ever heard! Generally I prefer a humbucker at the bridge for extra heft but this is a great alternative!
Thunderbird
I am so looking forward to putting my PBXN in would also like to say Alan and Simon at Entwhistle are really helpful guys One question if anyone knows is the red wire the hot one? I think it is but just double checking thanks in advance
chrismuzz
Red's always the hot one, get it stuck in!

Nibody
I'm intrigued to hear the PBXN in action, I love the Fender "original" pickups but I'd like something with more bite in an (as in The Ox) kind of vibe. Tried Wizard Thumpers a while back but they didn't achieve what I wanted. If the jazz equivalent is anything to go by (they are louder than the Fender P pickup in my PJ) I might be on to something. Biaeothanata-Bassist
After Dave's (Nibody) endorsement on how good it sounds, I think I might have to get a JBXN to go in the bridge position of my practise bass to pair it up with the Seymour Duncan SPB-4 SH pick up. Has anyone got any sound samples of these Neodymium pick ups as i can't find any videos.
BruceBass3901
Can anybody comment on the difference in sound between the ceramic and Neo versions of each of these pickups? Really interested to try these in my current Jazz bass build as I am already trying out a set of Dimarzio Ultra Jazz and a set of SD Quarter Pounders once it is finished
chrismuzz
I can't compare the two, but the Neo versions have definitely got a much higher output! Compared to the SD quarter pounders, they are again higher output and with more midrange clarity. Very good pickups indeed!
BruceBass3901
Thanks for that chrismuzz! Considering the price, I may just get a set of each for a 'shootout' and see what sticks in this bass Very interested in the P style pickups as well as my next build is a PJ. Do Enwhistle ever do MM style pickups?
cachao
Got neos in my Tanglewater, ceramics in my old Merica. Definitely louder in the former. Difficult to compare sounds, as these are totally different basses.

DarkHeart
So very kind of you to sell me that pup Paul, its a monster! Ive replaced a Duncan SPB2 with it and its louder, crisper and to me anyway it seems to have an equal volume spread between all the strings and that was with just screwing it into the bass! Cracking bit of kit for the money, think i might get a pair for a jazz bass next
