Synth pedal, Late 70's tone

Hello Basschat.co.uk,

I am currently looking into buying a synth pedal. After a lot of research, I have become a tad lost with many options the market has to offer, and in need of some advise. I'm trying to emulate a late 70's funk bass, synth sound. A good example of the tone I'm looking for is from Michael Jackson's, 'Shake your body to the ground'. I am currently trying to develop my knowledge of effect pedals as I only use overdrive (on occasion), a EQ pedal for slapping and the essential boss tuner.
