Nige52
Hi, I own a lovely little Samick Greg Benntt Mini Corsair bass, which is tiny at 25" scale, but it suits me perfectly when sat at the computer recording. My problem is this, if tuned EAGB, the strings are too sloppy, so I have been tuning it up 3 frets and at one time had it tuned ADGC...this solved the problem perfectly but.....I really want to tune it regularly as that's what I know best. A friend of mine has suggested I buy a 5 string, low B set and use the 4 bottom strings, from 130 down to 65. If I do this I will also have to recut the nut to accomodate the low B string (Tuned to E) Does anybody on here know if this would work, or have another suggestion? Thanks for your time, Nige[attachment=161385:samick corsair bass body.JPG]
zerofocus
heavier gauge strings would be the way to go, I don't know if a 5 string set would be the exact ones you should get as that may be too heavy and would need to recut the nut quite extremely but heavier strings will definitely help
davehux
La Bella BB (Beatle Bass) flats? Made for short scale Hofner type violin basses.
