doctor_of_the_bass
This looks very dodgy - Washburn Status being touted as a real one... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Status-Fretless-4-St...tem190236776454 Giveaway features are the truss rod cover and the logo on the bridge plate. Hmmm.
warwickhunt
That is a bit naughty. You do have to wonder if he genuinely thinks that it is a Status! I remember these models and I'm trying to recall if it had Washburn marked on the bass somewhere... the pups were Status hyperactives IIRC and as you say the bridge cover has the legend Status but did it have the Washburn logo somewhere that he is genuinely hiding/not declaring? Not an unreasonable price @ £200 (at the minute) for a Status licensed product but unwary buyers could be suckered into higher bids if they think it is a full blown Status. The image on the eBay ad is poor quality, so it's hard to tell it it's been doctored, but after zooming in I don't think it has been. Refinished? Golchen
It amazes me that people try to sell instruments with such crap pictures - unless they are hiding something of course!
Ou7shined
And would it of killed him to take a damp cloth over it first too. Yuck! He/she seems to have a few guitars knocking around his/her room there so I'd guess they're not a novice so presumably knows if it's a copy or not. 6stringbassist
He also says the neck is graphite, if it's a Washburn, which it obviously is, then it's made from wood, were the necks painted ?.
doctor_of_the_bass
It looks like the body has been either resprayed or rubbed down; its hard to tell. Yuck! The necks were made from maple (and were indeed painted black) but did have an `ebonite' (phenolic) fingerboard. Hamster
Looks like the seller has pulled the listing, or sold it outside the auction. Hamster
