Basically ordered this: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wordpress/portfolio/0102-acg-j-type-4-string/ , but as a graft spec.

But with the SB single coils, 33 inch, passive and the bridge pickup will be placed slightly further away from the bridge.

Very nice mate!
I've had similar plans in the past, that's a really nice looking J Type :)
Nice choice in the scale length too B)

Thanks dudes. I thought about it loads before decidin, and if it's anything like my graft finn then it'll be amazing.

I chose a 33" for the obvious ease of playing benifits, weight saving and the added tonal pallette it'll give in conjunction with the bridge pickup being moved slightly further away from the bridge.

I'm already counting down the days.

You're gonna love the 33" scale mate. It sweetens the upper register without sacrificing anything on your low E, and it really does make things that little bit more comfortable. The change isn't that noticeable but you're hands will thank you on long gigs and you'll find you can play some things you couldn't previously... :)

I don't know about weight saving from a 33" scale. My Finn has that scale and it's the heaviest bass I have. Very happy to put up with that for the playability and tone which are first class.

I know it's not going to make much difference in the grand scheme, especially as I've opted for an ash body.
My Finn is the lightest bass I've ever had, I didn't realise real basses could weigh so little, lol.

Got some pics of the blank body and fingerboard from ACG the past week or so.

I changed my mind on the rosewood and opted for a an acrylic inpregnated Birdseye maple board. I had a small dilemma after seeing a lot of jazz type basses with natural ash and a maple finger board and it set me off. I emailed Alan with thoughts plus that if it'd end up being rather pale(as some maple can be) then I would down right hate it. So he's set me up with a board that's got a fair amount of Birdseye in and some awesome coloration throughout it.

deciding the pickup placement. Basically 70's or 60's. coupled with the 33 inch scale the bridge pickup is in effectively the same place as the bridge coil on a MM bass.

No pictures now its in my hand as I've been so busy and always loosing the light. I didnt even know it was to come in a gig bag which is very substantial.
out the box it smells like fresh brand new furniture haha, pure wood porn. The neck is the best looking piece of wood I've seen, so so happy with it.
I'm also very happy with having moved the pickups and gone for a shorter scale length. Something always bugged me about the bridge sound on the Finn I had and this solves it easy. The overwound pickups I wanted are mega hot, loads more energy in all positions. The P bass sound is killer, not that I use it. The bridge pickup sound is more rounded on the lows and less honking in the upper mids and nails the sound I want.

Fit and finish is second to none.

Lovely. I think Alan's Jazz style basses are the prettiest on the market. I like your choice of bridge pickup placement. Keeps that classic tone but with a bit more body to it.

What a looker! All that natural wood and black hardware, it just looks like a timeless classic already. Congratulations on a lovely piece of low end hardware.
