Toasted Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Hi, I'm training my voice, and I need a chromatic tuner with a mic input to sing into that will display the note I'm singing. Anyone suggest one? Quote
cheddatom Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Can you just use your PC? Or a pedal tuner with an xlr-jack lead? Quote
Toasted Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 Mic + Xlr isn't a bad idea. I just wondered if there was something a bit more gadget-y that I could use, and a bit less heath-robinson-y Joe. Quote
cheddatom Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 What about this? Quote
cheddatom Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 there are loads on that site. I don't mean to be a tw*t but I got it from searching "chromatic tuner" and got a few million results. - just saying 'cos there's probably something better/better value out there Quote
Toasted Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 I was looking for recomendations more than anything Quote
cheddatom Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Ahhhh, sorry. It's an interesting idea. Are you going to read sheet music and then use a tuner to make sure you're hitting the right notes? I'm no singer, but I would have thought it better to learn to do it by ear. Do singing tutors have tuners? As an experiment i'd be very interested in the results! Quote

I'm already getting better with intervals but my bass teacher feels that it will be good for my ear if I can use one of these gismos to check that I'm singing the "right" notes. I think it makes sense in principle. Let's see what happens in practice Quote

escholl Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 i'd highly recommend a fender st-1, or even better if you can find an old korg at-12 that would be perfect --eric Quote
