Annoying Twit Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 I'm guessing with it being a six string headless, that a humongous horn helps with balance. But it is very visually impressive as well Quote
JapanAxe Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014
Standard Sei Flamboyant Offset shape.
Yep. Move along, nothing to see here Quote
TheGreek Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 If you listen carefully you can probably hear Ziggy crying cos he wants this... Quote
Annoying Twit Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 (edited) Unbelievable it may be, but I wasn't previously familiar with the Sei Flamboyant range. Is it fiddly to tune, with the six tuners in a row like that? From what I've heard of Sei in general, I thought that they were a top class range of basses, and hence I'd expect that even if it looks fiddly to tune, it would in fact be a delight. Wasn't there someone somewhere on the forum upset because they couldn't afford a seven string Sei at that time on sale in one of the notable bass stores in London? @TheGreek - totally off topic, but it's interesting to see all your very high end basses, and a Bass Collection BC310 in there. How does it compare? Edited May 2, 2014 by Annoying Twit Quote
TheGreek Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 People forget that in it's day the Bass Collection was a high end bass - I remember trying one at a Fair at the Barbican in the 80s - I also tried a Wal, an Overwater and a Rick - the Bass Collection was not outclassed by the, now, better known brands. I still maintain that when you buy a Bass Collection you get a lot of bass for your money. Quote
kodiakblair Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 I'm with TheGreek on that. Got my Bass Collection 20 odd years back still a cracking Bass. Quote
Annoying Twit Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) I did bid on a BC310 a few months ago, and came second. It sold for £115. I thought I was lowballing it and was very surprised at what it went for. When I build up £££ of 'man toy' budget for a fretless (currently £-30 (negative) budget available ), perhaps I should be looking at a Bass Collection fretless in my list of potential instruments. I wonder if anyone will be bringing a Bass Collection to the midlands bass bash. Edited May 3, 2014 by Annoying Twit Quote
Ktmman Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 The build quality of the BC 310 i had was streets ahead of most off the shelf stuff imho .. And the 310 was the lower end of the range .. Quote
Annoying Twit Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) This looks nice. But as nice as it is, I think it's going to struggle to achieve £270.
