TheBassManuK
Hey everyone, I'm a new member and have been playing bass for about 3/4 of a year now. I have a Fender P-Bass (+Jazz Pickup), Behringer amp, FBM-1 Pedal and Custom Shop Lead. I have a question for you all which is something of great urgency! First off, do any of you know the song: Slick Stuff - The Becker Brothers Band I can't find any tabs for it anywhere and it is distressing me because I love the sound of the bassline at the start and want nothing more than to be able to play it. I checked Ultimate Guitar, Songsterr, Bigbasstabs and Youtube and I came up with nothing ;n; I don't think that I will be able to learn it by ear, mainly due to the speed and my inexperience. That is why I would appreciate it if anyone could either tab it, has a tab or knows someone with the tab. Anyway, I hope to fit in nicely with you all!
discreet
Hi, welcome to the forum. It's on YouTube, but from what you say the vid will be of limited use to you... or you could hone your learning by ear skills..? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUMT5TRxG88
Dad3353
Good evening, TheBassManUK and ... ... to the forum. A great introductory question, but I'm afraid that you might not want my answer. No, sorry, I don't have the tab for this. I didn't know this band, so thanks for posting, but I really wouldn't recommend insisting on this one piece as a beginner's lesson. I'd suggest a hefty dose of patience, and a couple of months learning how to pick up tracks by ear. No, you can't do that right now. That's normal, the opposite would be amazing. Many( most..?) of us here didn't have tab or t'web either, when we started. We learned from the radio, or by repeated listening of a track. The more fortunate had tape decks, and could slow stuff down (although the pitch changed...). It takes slightly longer, but the ears become trained, and pieces become progressively easier to pick up. Yes, we could, ourselves, listen to this and 'tab' it for you, but we all know about giving a bloke a fish, or teaching him to fish. Do a couple of simpler (slower tempo..?) ones first, but keep on with this one; you'll be up and running much faster, I'm sure. Whilst I'm here, becoming your worst nightmare, could I also suggest using with parsimony the coloured texts that the forum is capable of displaying..? Thanks in advance for our eyesight. Sorry if all this seems harsh, but it's for you own good, you know. Edited May 2, 2014 by Dad3353

There is one guy, but he is a multi-instrumentalist. I have been able to play the Californication solo by ear on Guitar however the bass is always illegible via youtube due to sound compression so that option is out of the question. Also, I just wanted to use multi-colours for my introductory post, it'll be staying black from now on so you don't need to worry and I am going to persevere with this song, I was just hoping on a whim that someone may have it just laying around Trust me, it takes a lot more to become my worst nightmare

BassTractor
Welcome, TheBassManuK! I can't think of anything mildly and limitedly amusing right now, but you're still very welcome.
