Motu 8pre vs Tascam US1800

Looking at getting either of these for a home studio that can also be portable if needs be. What experience have BCers had with either?

not sure about the motu 8, but i have a tascam us1800 which i use pretty much daily.
found it to be very useable and does exactly what it is supposed to, ive used it for home use, drum tracking and tracked a full band through it and it works great. would highly recommend it

I am struggling to get an 8 pre to work with the version of OSX before Maverics. I don't know if there has been a very recent driver update, but it is unusable at the moment.
